Guide Life Base Camp: Behind the Collection

Sleeping bag illustrationWhen Outdoor Life’s editors first set out to create products they made a decision to launch with the focus on the place where all great adventures start – Base Camp. Whether you’re fishing, hunting, hiking or even just enjoying a cool summer night under the stars in your own backyard, a comfortable and well-built base camp is your home away from home. This idea became the backbone for all of the products you’ll find in the Guide Life collection for Fall 2018 and in releases to come. (Holiday 2018 is up next!)

Working with a hand-picked team of world-class product designers, the Outdoor Life editors were able to identify a group of launch products that will set the stage for a great base camp. These fundamental items were selected and developed with input from experts with decades of experience in testing and reviewing all kinds of outdoor gear. We know you’re going to love these products as much as we do. Below are some words from our team on the core product groups and some things you might like to know about each while you’re considering Guide Life gear for your next adventure.

Tents

At the very top of your base camp priority list is selecting your camping tent. The Guide Life Bunk House line of family tents, in both 4-person and 6-person models, are spacious and provide true full headroom, and include a tremendous number of features that most manufacturers sell separately. They are cavernous, and their integrated vestibule/front porch means you’ll have plenty of room to stretch out, while 12-pocket, integrated, removable storage systems keep additional gear and clothing stashed and out of the way. Floor-to-ceiling water resistance includes a full rainfly, taped seams, and zippered storm flaps. The freestanding Bunk House (only the vestibule needs to be staked) is easy to set up and stores simply into a 27 by 15-inch stuff sack.

Base Camp “Must-Haves”

The Guide Life line of Mud Room camping mats are the best way to keep the forest floor outside of your tent—where it belongs. Extra-large and large sizes can serve as interior ground covers and insulation for Guide Life Bunk House tents, while smaller vestibule mats can help keep dirt and mud from being tracked inside. Fishermen will want to keep one in their vehicle to serve as a great place to stand while removing their waders. Rugged polypropylene mesh construction is mildew-resistant, lightweight, and engineered to be easily cleaned.

This director-style camp chair features a durable steel-tubing frame and a bamboo side table with a cup holder. Now you can relax in style.
